July 6, 2026 – The Seattle Storm have been honored as one of four finalists for ESPN’s Sports Humanitarian Team of the Year Award alongside the Baltimore Ravens, Charlotte Hornets, and Cleveland Browns.
This is the second time the Storm have been nominated since 2022. The Award celebrates sports organizations that create positive impacts within their community. The Storm have several team charities that benefit the Puget Sound region. Force4Change, StormCares, youth basketball and leadership programs, and partnerships that expand access and opportunity for young people.
Force4Change was created in 2020 to raise awareness and demand justice for Black players and BIPOC communities. The Storm have raised over $2.4 million to support local organizations and non-profits.
StormCares is centered around the team’s Four core pillars: Youth Leadership & Personal Development, Wellness & the Power of Play, Youth Literacy, and Community Investment & Service.
The Storm hosts an array of vibrant theme nights throughout the season, including Black Excellence Night, Pride Night, and Storm Out Cancer Night. These events not only celebrate diversity and inclusion but also raise awareness for important causes while honoring local organizations dedicated to serving the communities of Washington state.



The 12th annual ESPN Sports Humanitarian Awards will take place on Tuesday, July 14, in New York City during ESPYS Week, with winners announced at The 2026 ESPYS on Wednesday, July 15.
Other award honorees and finalists include:
- Laurie Tisch (Sports Philanthropist of the Year)
- Jeffrey Lurie (Stuart Scott ENSPIRE Award)
- Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award finalists Adam Thielen, Damar Hamlin and Stephen Curry
- Corporate Community Impact Award finalists American Express, Colgate-Palmolive and Jersey Mike’s
- Billie Jean King Youth Leadership Award honorees Julia Howe, Kelis Armstrong and Sam Phillips.
Up Next: The Storm are on a three game road trip starting Mon. July 6th in Los Angeles against the Sparks, followed by Thursday in Atlanta wrapping up on the east coast in Washington D.C against the Mystics.
