August 14, 2026 – Seattle, WA – The Seattle Sounders dominated early but faltered, allowing Luis Rey and Santiago Sandoval to score for Chivas in a Wednesday night defeat at Lumen Field before 35,268 fans.
Defender Gallatin Sandnes netted the sole goal for Seattle, but it proved insufficient against a resilient Chivas side.
Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei faced constant pressure throughout the match, unable to prevent the two goals that sealed the contest.
Chivas goalkeeper Óscar Whalley proved the difference, making crucial saves when Seattle pressed for an equalizer and ultimately securing the three-point victory for the visitors.
Seattle finished the tournament with three points across three matches.
Up Next: The Sounders return to Lumen Field Sunday, August 16 at 7 PM PST to face the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
