May 16, 2026 — Seattle, WA — The Seattle Reign FC fell 2-0 to NJ/NY Gotham FC on Friday night in the club’s final match at Lumen Field before the World Cup break.

Jaedyn Shaw opened the scoring in the 24th minute for Gotham FC, while Tierna Davidson added a second goal in the 57th minute to secure the road victory.

The loss marked Seattle’s fourth defeat of the season. The Reign now sit in ninth place in the NWSL standings with a 3-4-2 record, while Gotham FC improved to 5-2-3 and moved into fourth place.

Milestones and Celebrations

Before kickoff, the club celebrated the birthday of head coach Laura Harvey, the winningest coach in NWSL history, now in her ninth season with the Reign.

Harvey was presented with a framed photo commemorating her 100 regular-season wins milestone, created from 300 photographs spanning her years with the club.

Under Harvey, the Reign won three NWSL Shields, the most by any head coach, and reached three NWSL Championship matches in 2014, 2015, and 2023.

Defender Sofia Huerta achieved a big milestone by being the sixth player in Reign FC history to reach 100 appearances. Defender Phoebe McClernon also celebrated her 100th career NWSL appearance after playing the full 90 minutes on Friday night.

The Reign also unveiled their new “Rise Kit” during the match.
