May 6, 2026 – Everett, WA – The Everett AquaSox thrilled the home crowd of 1,479 Wednesday night with a 10-0 victory over the Hillsboro Hops. Fans in attendance were also treated to watching Mariners’ pitcher Bryce Miller on the mound for a rehab assignment.

Miller’s rehab assignment with the Everett AquaSox turned into a showcase not only for the Mariners pitcher, but for several of Seattle’s top prospects as well.
The game featured strong performances from multiple young players in Everett, including first-round catcher Luke Stevenson and outfielder Johnny Farmelo, who looked every bit the part of a future impact player. Farmelo flashed his speed and athleticism in center field while also producing at the plate, leading off with a double and helping spark the AquaSox offense.
Felrin Celesten also reached base early, setting up Stevenson for an RBI opportunity as the Mariners’ young core continued to impress together on the field.

Following his outing, Miller spoke about the purpose behind the rehab appearance and the importance of focusing on pitch development rather than simply chasing strikeouts or velocity. He noted that “if this were a normal regular season start, he likely would have relied more heavily on his fastball”, but the assignment allowed him to work on secondary pitches such as his cutter and slider.

Miller said “the slider felt especially sharp, generating strong break and staying controlled throughout the outing.” He also mixed in a curveball, though he admitted there is still progress to be made with the pitch as he continues building back into form.

The Mariners right-hander emphasized that physically “he feels good and is eager to return to Seattle”, but he trusts the organization’s process and understands the importance of taking things slowly.
Mariners pitching coach Pete Woodworth was also present during the assignment, something Miller described as valuable both personally and professionally.

As for what’s next, Miller said the decision will ultimately be up to the Mariners organization, but he mentioned that a possible next step could be an appearance with Triple-A Tacoma.
That could line him up for the Rainiers, giving local fans another chance to see him continue his rehab progression before returning to Seattle.
