Seattle, WA – September 27, 2026 – The Seattle Sounders hosted Minnesota United for Mexican Heritage Night in front of 32,331 fans at Lumen Field on Saturday afternoon. Seattle earned their second win in a row with the 3-1 victory over United.
The match was one for the record books, with senior forward Jordan Morris scoring the opening goal in the 16th minute to earn his 73rd career goal, surpassing former Seattle Sounder Raúl Ruidíaz. In his ninth season with the Sounders, Morris has a total of 94 goals to his name across all competitions.
Hassani Dotson and Anthony Markanich also scored for Seattle and Paul Arriola got the lone goal for Minnesota.

- 2016: Won MLS Rookie of the Year, and helped Seattle win its first MLS Cup.
- 2019: MLS Comeback Player of the Year and his second MLS Cup.
- 2020: MLS Best XI honors and MVP finalist recognition.
- 2022: Seattle Concacaf Champions League, earned an MLS All-Star selection, and was selected for the World Cup.
- 2023: Led Seattle with 11 regular-season goals (14 all competitions) and won the Sounders FC Golden Boot.
- 2024: Set a career high with 13 regular-season goals (18 all competitions) and played in every regular-season match.
- 2025: Recorded 7 goals across all competitions in 20 appearances.
- 2026: Through late September, has 2 goals and 3 assists in 17 league appearances.
Seattle head coach Brian Schmetzer also had a record night as the third-fastest coach to reach 150+ wins.
