September 8, 2026 — Seattle, brace yourself! Wednesday night at Lumen Field, the city’s rock ‘n’ roll royalty descends on the Seattle Seahawks‘ regular season home opener, delivering not one but two electrifying performances for fans lucky enough to be in attendance.
Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready will perform a solo national anthem and join a reuniting Soundgarden for the halftime show.
McCready has performed the Star Spangled Banner several times for the Seattle Mariners as well as other Seattle sports teams such as the Seattle Sounders (MLS) and the Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL). Wednesday’s performance will be McCready’s second time for the Seahawks, previously playing in 2017 .
The Half-time show will feature a Soundgarden reunion with surviving members (Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd, and Matt Cameron) with special guests: Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless on vocals and Mike McCready on guitar. The band previously reunited for the 2025 Hall of Fame induction and honored their late lead singer, Chris Cornell, who passed away in 2017.
Proceeds from the 50/50 raffle will benefit the Washington Innocence Project, an organization that fights to overturn wrongful convictions. In 2024 the Seattle Kraken donated $32,000 to the non-profit, in recognition of McCready’s advocacy.
The pregame celebration starts at 2:30 PM with more musical performances and the raising of the Super Bowl championship banner prior to kick off at 5:20 PM.
The Seahawks will battle the New England Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch. The Seahawks defeated the Patriots 29–13 in Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026.
