Tukwila, WA – The Seattle Seawolves are charging into the 2026 rugby season with intensity, skill, and a roster that reflects the global spirit of the sport. With their home opener already underway on April 3, fans can catch every future home match at Starfire Stadium. The perfect venue for an unforgettable day out with friends or family this spring and early summer.

If you love the speed of soccer or the physicality of hockey, rugby offers the best of both worlds. It’s fast-paced, hard-hitting, and packed with nonstop action that keeps fans on the edge of their seats.

A Global Game, Right Here at Home

This year’s Seawolves roster features players from 13 different nations, showcasing the diversity and international flair of rugby. Each match fields 15 players, with 23 suited up on game day. Positions are divided into forwards (jerseys 1–8), who handle the physical battles, and backs (9–15), who bring speed and strategy to the attack.

New to Rugby? Here’s What to Know

Rugby is a flowing game, much like soccer, with continuous play that only stops for penalties or when the ball goes out of bounds. Players can pass only sideways or backward—but can kick the ball forward at any time.

Scoring centers around the “try,” worth five points, achieved by grounding the ball over the opponent’s try line. After a try, teams attempt a conversion kick for two additional points. Other scoring opportunities include penalty kicks and drop goals, each worth three points.

Matches are played on a “pitch,” (much like soccer), a large field measuring 100 meters long and 70 meters wide. Rugby fields are some of the biggest playing areas in professional sports. Learn more about the game play here.

Momentum Is Building

In their second match of the season, the Seawolves showed resilience and firepower. After building an early lead, they held off a strong push from Old Glory, who closed the gap to 16–14 early in the second half. Despite going down to 14 players after a red card, Seattle surged ahead with 17 unanswered points in the final 20 minutes to secure a statement win.

Flyhalf Davy Coetzer led the charge, contributing 17 points through precise kicking, including conversions and penalties.
