September 19, 2025 – The 2025 Seattle Storm’s rollercoaster season came to a dramatic and emotional close Thursday night in Las Vegas, as the Aces edged out the Storm, 74–73, in Game 3 of the WNBA Playoffs’ first round.
In a game that lived up to the rivalry’s fierce reputation, the Storm gave it everything they had. After a tough Game 1 blowout loss in Vegas, Seattle roared back with a gritty Game 2 win at home, overcoming a 14-point deficit to force the decisive third game. Their resilience and fight brought fans to their feet—and gave hope that the underdog story might continue.
Game 3 was a battle from start to finish. The Storm played with poise and confidence, trading leads with the Aces and refusing to back down. Erica Wheeler led the charge with 16 points, including clutch three-pointers that kept Seattle within striking distance. In the final seconds, with the Storm trailing by one, Gabby Williams launched a desperate three-point attempt as the buzzer sounded—falling just short of a miraculous comeback.
A’ja Wilson, named Co-Defensive Player of the Year, proved why she’s one of the league’s elite, bouncing back from a quiet Game 2 with a jaw-dropping 38-point performance—25 of which came in the second half. Her dominance ultimately tipped the scale in favor of Las Vegas, who now advance to face the Indiana Fever in the semifinals.
For Seattle, it marks the third time in four years that the Aces have ended their postseason hopes in the opening round. But this season was anything but a failure.
After enduring a late season losing streak, the Storm regrouped, refocused, and clawed their way into the final playoff spot—showing growth, heart, and undeniable potential for the future.
As the 2025 season ends, fans showed unwavering energy and loyalty. From comeback wins at Climate Pledge Arena to support on the road, they were the team’s heartbeat. The Storm season may be over, but the journey continues.

The Semi-Finals round of the 2025 WNBA Playoffs kicks off on Sunday at 3 PM ET on ESPN or the WNBA App.
