Seattle, WA — On September 5, 2025, the Seattle Storm lit up Climate Pledge Arena with more than just basketball as they hosted the New York Liberty for the 10th annual Storm Out Cancer Night. The event brought together fans, players, and partners in a powerful show of support for those affected by cancer.

Staff and volunteers from the Foundation for Women’s Cancer were honored before the game. This year’s Race to End Women’s Cancer takes place on Saturday, September 14th in Washington D.C. The annual event encourages runners, walkers, and supporters to raise awareness and funds for women’s cancer prevention and treatment. This year will feature a timed 5K race and a one-mile walk for all skill levels, plus activities to honor survivors and support those battling gynecologic cancers. Runners and supporters can attend virtually as well.

During a break, the Storm Foundation and Premera presented a $25,000 check to the Providence Swedish Cancer Patient Assistance Fund.
This fund offers important non-medical financial aid, such as for rent, utilities, groceries, and transportation, to patients at the Swedish Cancer Institute. It also helps purchase items that improve the treatment experience. The Storm Foundation is the team’s nonprofit organization focused on giving back to the community.

The arena was awash in white as fans waved Storm Out Cancer towels and held up “I Support” signs in honor of cancer survivors and those currently undergoing treatment.

Educational tables lined the concourse, offering fans valuable information on cancer prevention and early detection.

As the regular season winds down, the Storm will host their final theme night—Fan Appreciation Night—on Tuesday, September 9, against the Golden State Valkyries.

If you or a loved one is affected by cancer, there are several charitable organizations in the Seattle area that offer free support, such as: Cancer Pathways, Northwest Hope & Healing, Fred Hutch Cancer Center, and the Patient Advocate Foundation.
