Kate Scott will become the first female play-by-play announcer for an NFL game on Westwood One. This historic event will take place on September 28th. The Minnesota Vikings will face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin, Ireland.
Scott is a groundbreaking American sportscaster and the current TV play-by-play voice for the Philadelphia 76ers. She covers international soccer for FOX and CBS Sports. She is the first woman to call preseason games for the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.
The Fresno, California native hit her first milestone in August 2016. She was the first woman to call an NFL game on the radio. This occurred during two preseason games for the San Francisco 49ers.
Scott was part of the first-ever all-women’s NBCSN broadcast crew for the NHL’s International Women’s Day on March 8, 2020.
“Anytime someone offered me an opportunity, in sports, I said ‘YES” – Kate Scott
Scott became the voice of the 76ers in 2021, taking over from Marc Zumoff. She started as a sideline reporter for the San Jose Earthquakes and reported on Bay Area sports for KNBR. After that, she worked with the PAC-12 Network, doing play-by-play for different sports.
In 2024, Scott made history as the first woman chosen for the Madden NFL 25 commentary team, partnering with Brock Huard. She is the only woman who has provided commentary for games in the NBA, NFL, NHL, and NCAA Division I football. She has also provided commentary for the Olympics and a FIFA World Cup.
Scott resides in San Francisco with her wife, Nicole, and is a member of the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
