In Norse mythology, Valkyries are fierce female warriors who soar through the skies on horseback, choosing the bravest souls to enter Valhalla, Odin’s legendary hall. Ravens are known as mystical guardians of the Valkyries, making for the perfect mythical match—enter Violet.

The buzz began last week when a mysterious, gold-speckled egg appeared in the courtyard outside “Ballhalla” (aka the Chase Center). Soon after, it mysteriously moved inside the arena, leaving fans guessing what would hatch.
The big moment arrived during a halftime performance at Monday’s game against the Connecticut Sun., when fans watched in awe as Violet hatched on the Jumbotron and then strutted through the players’ tunnel onto the court.
Rocking golden glasses, a white-and-lavender Valkyries jersey, and a matching skirt, Violet fluffed her feathers, nailed a backflip, and joined her new squad for an epic dance on center court—before proudly raising her wings to form a shining “V.”

Golden State made its WNBA debut this season and currently sits 7th overall, 4th in the Western Conference—just one point ahead of the Seattle Storm. The Valkyries visit the Storm for their final regular season road game on Tuesday, September 9 at Climate Pledge Arena.
