September 14, 2025 — The weather in the Pacific Northwest may be cooling down, but the final weeks of baseball season are heating things up.

AquaSox Capture First Northwest League Title Since 2010

Let’s start with the minors. In front of a fired-up crowd at Funko Field on Saturday, the Mariners’ High-A affiliate , AquaSox, clinched the Northwest League Championship with a 6-3 win over the Eugene Emeralds, sealing the best-of-five series in four games. It’s Everett’s first title since 2010—and it came in dramatic fashion.

On the mound, Gabriel Sosa delivered a shutdown fifth inning to earn the win, while Lucas Kelly slammed the door in the ninth, striking out the side to notch the save.

Third baseman Suisbel, 22, played the hero in the clincher, blasting a go-ahead home run and finishing the series with team highs in hits (5) and RBIs (5). Second baseman Mike Pagliarini, 24, stayed hot with two homers, four RBIs, and a series-best 1.267 OPS, including a three-hit performance in Game 4.

Manager Zach Vincej, a former Mariner himself, continues to build a winning culture—this marks his third straight minor league title as a skipper.

Meanwhile in the Majors…

Cal Raleigh launched his 54th homer Sunday, tying Mickey Mantle’s legendary record for most in a season by a switch-hitter, as the Mariners crushed the Angels 11-2. Seattle extended its win streak to nine and claimed sole possession of the AL West for the first time since June.

Mantle set the mark with the 1961 Yankees. Now, Raleigh—whose previous best was 34 homers—is just two shy of Ken Griffey Jr.’s Mariners single-season record (56).

Seattle (82-68) now sits one game ahead of the Houston Astros atop the division, riding its hottest streak since a 14-game surge in July 2022.

The Mariners begin a five-game road trip with three in Kansas City through Thursday, then head to Houston for a weekend series against the Astros.
